This is one of just 2,363 Allstates ever made.  Compare this to the 130,322 Henry Js that were produced.  The main difference is that Allstates were marketed through the Sears catalog rather than through conventional means.  The Allstate featured here is a 1952 six-cylinder (161-cid) engine.  It appears to be mostly original as far as the guts of the car are concerned, but it has clearly been reupholstered and repainted.  I have replaced the starter solenoid and the battery.  There are quite a few miscellaneous parts that come with the Allstate, including NOS rubber to go around all of the windows and more.  The odometer reads 8,400 miles.  Probably 108k actual. The biggest plus for the car is that it has no serious rust problems.  There is some minor surface rust where the paint has begun to peel, and there appeared to be some bondo peeling up around the passenger side fin.  I removed this and discovered nothing but straight metal underneath.  I tried to smooth it out after that and didn’t do a very good job as seen in one of the pictures.  The body is all straight.  There is something not quite right with the hinges for the hood, which makes it a bit tricky to open.  That all being said, the body is in quite impressive shape overall.  The car ran when I purchased it about 4 years ago.  I drove it home and would drive it around town on a limited basis.  It would smoke when first fired up and lacked the horse power that it should have had.  The engine is original; you can see the word Allstate cast into the head.  It’s ready to be rebuilt or to be yanked in place of something else.  It died suddenly on me while idling in the garage less than a year ago.  There’s no spark at any of the plugs, so it’s something electrical and that’s all I know.
