One owner car
Sold new in Yoakum, Texas by Hermansen Motors
This car has never left Texas
The car is complete. I see nothing missing.
I believe the spare is a factory issued tire, and the jack and spare tire hold down hardware are there. Even though the car has the original seat covers, it will need a full restoration due to 45 years of outside storage in the Texas desert. There is rust in the rocker panels, and in the bottom of the front fenders, and in the front floor, where the sandstorms blew dust into the car which then held water. The trunk is 100% leak proof, including the tire well, which was demonstrated when I hosed out 50 years of dirt. We needed the wet- dry vacuum to suck out the water. No rust there! there is a dent in the left rear quarter panel, and another small one on the passenger side.

This car is a survivor! The car was bought 15 years ago and a restoration was started in West Texas. The bumpers and bumper guards were re-chromed, and the original black (it has never been repainted) paint was stripped off the rear of the car. The restoration shop owner then suffered a health breakdown, and the restoration stopped. Neighborhood kids broke the two left side windows. A bullet hole marks the passenger window. But the car survived. In fact, since the restoration was not complete, the car was not on exhibit in The Smoke House restaurant and Auto museum, in Van Horn, Texas, which tragically burned in the winter of 1992. The car survived!

This car is a 1952 Henry J Deluxe Corsair ( a name shared with an Edsel model, and a Corvair model - there is a lesson there some where!)

It has the full wheel covers, a padded dash, twin visors, and deluxe interior. It was delivered from the dealer with a radio delete, backup lights delete, and heater delete. It has the 6 cylinder with overdrive transmission. The dash, knobs, and steering wheel are in nice condition. The tires hold air, but are not suitable for the road. The car will have to be trailered. I have not tried to start it. The car is complete. One "deluxe" emblem is broken, and the thermostat housing is broken. The engine is complete, even the decal is on the air cleaner! The trunk mat is in excellent shape. I have both keys, and the trunk locks. ( The 1953 cars had trunks; the earlier ones did not.)

If you are looking for a solid Henry J to restore, or rod, this is your car! I have never seen a car with a more complete history! When have you seen a car at a show with the original dealer issued paper tags? Will you ever again?

My copy of 50 Years of American Automobile lists:

80 horsepower
100 inch wheel base
Approximately 8,100 made
2,445 pounds
A dealer price of $1,566. As this car was first title in April of 1954, we might assume that Mr. Frank Holster paid less than that. My reserve is slightly more than that, although I might sell it for less if you do not want the rechromed bumpers and bumper guards. ( A local man wants these pieces, and would include his original pieces with this car.)

Vehicle Condition

This is a solid, absolutely original car, that has never been modified, altered, wrecked, or messed with. It needs a full restoration.
