Vehicle Description

1951 Kaiser Henry J Deluxe, original 6 cylinder engine and three speed transmission (three on the tree). This great classic spent most of its life in the dry climate of Arizona and was moved to Southern California on July 21, 2004. It has been painted Porsche Red with black/red interior to compliment the outside paint scheme and  white pinstripes on the flowing lines on the sides of the car. The body is all metal, no fiberglass. The chrome is in excellent condition and a number of new parts and services have been done on this Henry J.

New Stuff: New Cooker white wall tires (period correct with only 15 miles on them). New six volt battery. New radiator hoses and coolant. New ignition coil. New door weatherstripping. The fuel system has been redone with the fuel tank internally sealed to prevent rusting (the fuel tank was already rust free, but I had it out and decided to redo it).

Needed: The speedometer needle is broken and will need to be replaced. The original heater (a rare Kaiser "Air Conditioner" heating unit) was bypassed before I bought the car; it is probably a bad heater core. Radio does not work (the previous owner told me it worked before he had the carpet replaced; probably a disconnected wire).

Included in this auction: An extra set of Henry J hubcaps (the best ones are on the car). A complete wiring diagram and "1951 thru 1954 Henry J and Allstate Body Restoration Guide". I will also throw in a "Henry J Diner" special edition diner menu that I purchased on E-bay (looks great in the front seat when you're showing at a car show)!

The Henry J currently has California Historical License Plates, which I will transfer to the new owner if they live in California (if an out of state winner gets this car, I will keep these plates for other classic cars that I own).

This is not a 100 point show car, but is a great car. It will rate on N.A.D.A. between "High Retail " and "Average Retail" and the reserve is very fair.

BY THE WAY, THE CAR'S NAME IS "HANK" .

I have had a few e-mail to confirm that the Henry J runs. It starts great, does not smoke and is driven every month to both charge the battery and circulate the fluids.

I have received another inquiry regarding the center console. This was in the car when I purchased it and is surely an "after-market" addition. Someone else in an earlier e-mail used the term "Mickey Mouse" to describe this console. This 1951 Henry J does not have a factory installed glove box. This console has an area to keep things (registration, proof of insurance, etc..). It can be removed if you do not care for this addition and I do not feel it takes away from the attributes of the car.
